Once Upon a Time in the West

a Film, Literature and Art workshop in four sessions

The workshop will combine watching film segments, analyzing stories and written material and discussing different visual representations to explore the symbols and myths related to the westward expansion in the United States. Some of the ideas to be presented are the role of the railroad, the problems of the individual vs. the federal government, personal vs. public justice, the fantasy of the land without law, and the importance of keeping the myths alive when building a national identity.

The sessions will include mini lectures, observation of the material, watching film segments and groups discussions.
